How to track ChatGPT traffic on Wix
Short answer: in your Wix dashboard open Analytics → All Reports and look at the Traffic reports for the source chatgpt.com. That shows ChatGPT clicks Wix can see. It won't show visitors whose referrer was dropped (they land in Direct) or people who read ChatGPT's answer and then called or searched your business name.

Step 1: Find ChatGPT in Wix Analytics
- Go to your site's dashboard and open Analytics, then All Reports.
- In the Traffic section, open a report that breaks sessions down by source.
- Look for the traffic source
chatgpt.com(older visits may showchat.openai.com). Wix shows both the specific source (the site the visit came from) and a broader category. - Use a range of 30 days or more, since AI visits are still a small slice for most small businesses.
Step 2: Don't ignore Direct traffic
Wix classes visits with no referrer as Direct. That includes bookmarks and typed URLs, but also links shared in messaging apps and links opened from inside apps, including the ChatGPT apps. If Direct traffic is rising faster than your brand awareness explains, some of it may be AI. You can't split it out after the fact, which is why step 4 matters.
Step 3: Use UTM data where it exists
ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to many links it shows. Wix Analytics can report on campaign parameters (see Wix's guide to tracking campaigns and traffic sources), so check your campaign or UTM reports for chatgpt.com as a source. This recovers some visits that arrived without a referrer.
Step 4: Ask how people found you
For a service business, the most important ChatGPT customers often never visit the site at all. They read the answer and phone you, or search your name on Google. The only reliable way to count them is to ask. Add a required “How did you first hear about us?” dropdown to your Wix contact or booking form, with ChatGPT, Google, another AI assistant, social media and referral as options, and ask the same question on calls.
