LocalBusiness schema: how to tell AI exactly who you are

Short answer: LocalBusiness schema is a small block of code on your website that states your business name, address, phone number, opening hours and profiles in a format machines read exactly. AI assistants and Google use it to get your facts right. Which AI Sent now has a free tool, Business details for AI, that writes the code from a short form.

The problem it solves

A person reading your footer understands “Open Mon to Sat, 7 till 7”. Software has to guess. It may read your old phone number from a blog post, miss your hours completely, or confuse you with a business of a similar name in another state. Schema removes the guessing. It’s a labelled list: this is the name, this is the phone, these are the hours.

What goes in it

  • Type of business: there are specific types such as MovingCompany, Plumber, Electrician, RoofingContractor, HVACBusiness and Dentist. Use the closest one.
  • Name, written exactly as on your Google Business Profile.
  • Website and phone.
  • Address, or leave the street out if customers don’t visit you, and list the areas you serve.
  • Opening hours.
  • Links to your profiles (Google, Facebook, Yelp, BBB). This is how an assistant connects your reviews elsewhere to your website.

Make yours

  1. In your dashboard, open Tools → Business details for AI.
  2. Fill in the form. The code updates as you type, and your answers are remembered on your device.
  3. Click Copy and paste it into the header of your home page.

Where to paste it

PlatformWhere
WordPressA header-code plugin such as WPCode, in the Header box. Many SEO plugins also have a “Local business” setting that does the same job.

SquarespaceSettings → Advanced → Code Injection → Header
WebflowSite settings → Custom code → Head code
ShopifyOnline Store → Themes → Edit code → theme.liquid, before the closing head tag

Three rules

Only state what’s true. Schema is a claim about your business. Hours you don’t keep or an address you don’t have will cost you trust with customers and with search engines.

Match your Google Business Profile character for character: same name, same phone, same address. Consistency across the web is one of the signals assistants lean on.

Don’t invent ratings. Rating markup is for genuine reviews you actually show on the page. Our tool leaves ratings out on purpose.

Check it worked

After publishing, run the site audit again. “Local business schema” and “Business details in structured data” should turn green. Google’s Rich Results Test will also read the code back to you.

Schema makes you easier to understand. It doesn’t make an assistant recommend you: that still rests on reviews, reputation and what other websites say. It does remove a common reason for being described wrongly or left out.
