Compare your website with a competitor’s in about 20 seconds
Short answer: Which AI Sent has a new tool, Compare with a competitor. Enter a competitor’s website and it runs the same checks as your own site audit on their public pages, then shows both scores side by side, the checks where they’re ahead of you, and how to catch up on each one.
When ChatGPT recommends the mover across town and not you, the first question is “what do they have that I don’t?” Often the answer is sitting in their website’s code: opening hours AI can read, a questions-and-answers section, links to their review profiles. You can’t see those by looking at the page. This tool can.
What it compares
The comparison uses the five areas of the site audit:
- Technical: titles, descriptions, sitemap, secure address, working links.
- AI readiness: whether AI crawlers are allowed in, business details in structured data, an About page, questions and answers.
- Local: address, tap-to-call number, opening hours, map, reviews, your city in the headline.
- Speed: how quickly the home page arrives and how heavy it is.
- Conversion: a quote form, a clear next step, proof from customers.
You get an overall score for each website and a bar for each area. Below that are two lists: where they’re ahead of you, with what we found on each side and how to close the gap, and where you’re ahead.
How to run it
- Run your own site audit once, so there is something to compare against.
- Open Tools → Compare with a competitor.
- Type their website address and click Compare. It reads their home page and up to eight more pages, which takes about 20 seconds.
Reading the result honestly
Three things to keep in mind.
It reads public pages only, the same way a search engine does. Nothing private, and nothing a visitor couldn’t open.
The score is a guide. It measures what can be checked from a page’s code. A higher score doesn’t mean a website ranks higher or gets recommended more. It means fewer known obstacles.
It doesn’t measure who AI recommends. For that, use AI visibility, which asks ChatGPT real customer questions and shows who it names. The two work well together: visibility tells you a competitor is being recommended in your place, and the comparison suggests why.
A sensible way to use it
Pick the one or two competitors that AI names most often in your visibility check. Compare each. Fix the top two or three gaps (these are usually an afternoon’s work), then run your site audit again and watch for the change in next week’s visibility check.
Competitor comparison
Is it legal to audit a competitor’s website?
The tool only reads pages that anyone can open in a browser, the same way search engines do. It does not log in, submit forms or access anything private.
Does a higher score mean they rank higher on Google or in ChatGPT?
No. The score counts known technical and content obstacles found in the pages’ code. It is a guide to what to fix, not a measure of rankings or AI recommendations.
How many competitors can I compare?
One at a time, as often as every few minutes. Your most recent comparisons are kept so you can come back to them.
Does it cost extra?
No. It is one of the tools included in the dashboard.
